Illegal immigration has much more to do with the fact that Mexico has such a high rate of unemployment and to be honest from a first hand perspective I would say this is directly to do with the drug trade in the US. If the US didnt buy so many drugs maybe just maybe Mexico would begin to develop industries instead many smart intelligent folks skip out on the good things and head straight into the business of trafficking drugs into the Big and Easy Land. Then violence erupts and well you lose some of the best and brightest minds to the violence of drug trafficking.

If the us were seriously interested in tackling the immigration problem they would first tackle the drug problem in the US. Legalize,Treat the Addicted, and Tax the Hell Out of It. Then instead of building fences work with US corporations to increase wages in US Corporated owned factories, sweatshops in border areas where so many goods are shipped.

At the end of the day I realize this will never happen due to greed. Until then poverty will continue to erode both countries headed down terribly wrong paths.
